The small size makes it easy to leave on my camera without giving much thought to the extra weight. I have used it for walks around town, casual trips, and everyday family photos, and the 24-50mm range has handled most of those situations without requiring a lens change.
At 24mm, I can fit quite a bit into the frame for streets, rooms, and group photos. Zooming toward 50mm gives me a nicer perspective for portraits and details, so I find myself using both ends of the range regularly rather than staying in the middle.
Focusing feels quick and dependable in normal daylight, and I have been happy with how easily it keeps up when photographing people who are moving around. The controls are simple, and the lens feels well matched to a smaller Nikon Z body, especially when I want a setup that does not feel bulky during a long outing.
The variable aperture is something I keep in mind once the light starts fading. In brighter conditions, performance has been easy to enjoy, while evening scenes usually call for higher ISO or a slower shutter speed. For casual indoor use, I have found it perfectly practical when there is enough available light.
One of my favorite things about the lens is how little space it takes in my bag. It has become an easy choice for travel because I can cover wide and normal perspectives without bringing several lenses along. The zoom range also makes spontaneous photos much easier when I am moving between different surroundings.
For an everyday Z-mount setup, it has been a pleasant lens to keep around. It handles routine photography well, feels nicely balanced, and gives me useful flexibility without adding much bulk. I reach for it often when I want to travel light and still have more than one perspective available.
